Hi Guys new poster here so go easy!
I have been an electrician for all my working life and am currently in Adelaide. We intend in the next year to head back home, the last uk training I did was for the 16th edition shortly before I left for Australia. I appreciate that you are now on the 17th edition and I will need to update. I plan to continue in the contracting field and would appreciate any advice on what other training I will need to undertake to become employable as soon as I get back.
Also where in the country seems to have the most vacancies or up coming projects as I'm open as to where to live.
Thanks in advance of any replies.

Life changes, parents get older. We have dual nationality so we could always go back. Australia isn't always as shiny as people would have you believe.

Unfortunately i think you'll be in for a rude awakening and very quickly when you get back to the UK!! Though i can understand to a point your reasoning for returning...

Hum.... stated by a person living in China

Why?? I have no intention of returning to the UK to work.

If you think that i have no idea what's going on in the UK, then i'm afraid you'd be wrong again. I have a large family as well as friends living in the UK, many of which are employed within the construction industry ...I'm aware of what's going on, on the work front as well as the overall economical front. I don't bury my head in the ground just because i'm no longer resident, i keep up with current affairs in the UK, probably more than most living there!!.

As far as the OP goes, at least he has an escape route back to Aussie if or when things go belly up. However bad he has found it in Aussie, at least it's one of the few countries that has prospered in real terms over the last 10 years and finding work shouldn't be too much of problem, (dependant maybe on where you're located) which is more than can be said for Europe and the UK....
