Discuss smoke / heat detectors in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

morning all!

please concur, or not?

3 self contained flats, on 3 floors. i'm working in the ground floor one, and have been asked to provide alarms for communal areas in accordance with fire officer and lacors guide.

i was thinking smokes on communal areas, on each level and positioned properly (more than one on each level if necessary), then heat detector just inside each flat.

all interlinked.

i get the idea from reading through lacors that this system is to protect the escape route for occupants?

thanks in advance

we're working more towards what the f.o.'s asked for, rather than the guide - he hasn't asked for emergency lighting. he might, but for now just the above?

I the property is a converted house or HMO, and over 3 floors, then it will required a Grade A System. Then local authority and fire officer will request a full fire alarm system to be installed. Suggest you wait for this report before start any installation.
