If you're a qualified, trainee, or retired electrician - Which country is it that your work will be / is / was aimed at?
United Kingdom
What type of forum member are you?
Practising Electrician (Qualified - Domestic or Commercial etc)
Got a advert through the door, obviously targeted, as I have panels on my roof.
A company who would install a battery system to store the excess electricity that my panels produce and I would be able to use that when it gets dark.
I won’t mention the actual company, suffice to say their system is manufactured by a leading battery brand.

Are these types of add ons any good?
Will it affect the FIT rate I already get?
(They always ask if there’s been changes to my system when I send in my meter reading)

I’m just curious, and would the advertised £4.5k price be a good investment?

Google 'prosumer' Its the future :)

Ignoring your FIT for a minute... batteries make no economic sense right now as grid supplied power is still too cheap. Without knowing the specifics, and throwing the numbers into a spreadsheet... I'd say stay with what you have.

Just as with P.V panels and Electric cars the only way in the near future that battery storage will make financial sense in Domestic properties is if it's given an incentive.
Given the headlong suicidal rush into Carbon free, it probably won't be that long before such an incentive comes along.
Be patient and hang on.

Large commercial users have to pay stupidly high rates for electricity at peak times and even they aren't rushing into battery storage, yet.

Good point there @snowhead about bigger energy users.

I’m already fed up with the phone calls about solar optimisation, getting as bad as PPI was.
It was just as this had a recognised brand name attached to it that I thought it was maybe more “legit” than the others.
