Some People have no idea about Part P

Had someone ask me... Are you NIC and not this part P s**t ?? lol

I said not registered with NIC but Elecsa.. No difference, Just my certs dont say "NIC" at the top.

He then went and spoke to a sparky who was NIC registered and asked him what Elecsa is!!

The day after he came back to me and said...

"You cant do anything... and has been told by the NIC spark that i cant do anything in rented property as its classed as commercial as its a business, Also he was told by the NIC registered spark that everyones now joining Elecsa as its the easiest to join, and anyone can join them... also that if he's not NIC he cant do anything industrial or commercial.

The bloke had fell for this NIC electricians guff, he was so gullable and fell for it all..

There was no talking him round..

I just had to laugh at him...

Sometimes walking away is the best course of action mate.

There are some truly mis-informed people out there and the whole part poo thing is a minefield for the best of us.

Sounds like the other spark was either desperate for work or just dense.

Agreed ! maybe give him Elecsa's number ! Im NIC and never dis another scheme provider you could also give him NIC's number so he can hear it from them as well. As Lenny said sounds like hes desp for work !

He's just an old boy stuck in his ways and has no idea about whats required to inspect and test, neither does he know about part P obviously. This bloke is an NIC Approved contractor but has not been keeping upto date with rules/regs ect it seems.

Kinda sick of all this 'NIC is best' nonsense. Have been present at an NIC assessment and it was a piece of cake. I'm with elecsa, my assessment was much much harder.

I am so fed up with a lot of the old boys to be honest. 'Oh I've been doing this for 30 years I don't need to do any exams. You don't know anything all you have had to do is a few tests I've got life experience blah blah'. Oh yea? Cos what Ive just watched you do isn't only against regs but it's bloody dangerous, and I'll have to put it right for this customer even though you're getting paid for a c/u change and I'm only doing a shower. Because you won't do a shower. Because you know you'll **** it up.

If it's so easy to get 'part p' then why don't you do it?

I get that from time to time, some of the old boys in wholsaler turn there nose up at me... And they aint even registered..

I never talk the talk or say i can do things i cant, I know my limits and stick to them.

It annoys me that some sparks think i think i know it all..... and i deffo dont.. I'm always learning...
