Hi guys I have to install a videx audio door entry system, to be honest it's not really my type of work and ain't got a clue to be honest how to wire it.

its simple just a one call button outside a entrance which goes to a telephone inside the building.

can any one help or show me how the exact wiring goes and what cable I will have to use.

i think the videx I've ordered come with a call button, 1 telephone and the transformer for the susupply

Hopefully some one can help

they will come with a wiring diagram, are you fitting a lock? if so for security reasons dont take that to the front panel. Apprentices are amased at me opening front doors with a 9v batt.
take a 3 or 4 pair from front panel to handset , fit fused spur somewhere and fit the transformer take feed to handset or front panel and conect as per drawing. use either fig 8 flex for supply or the twisted pair, if you use the twisted pair then double up on the supply. note some systems have the amp as part of the transformer in this case take all cables to that point

Because I'm an electrician, and I'm open to learn new things or take on anything I think I should no how to do it,

as in a away it's like sparking in it,

ok

Yer I'm fitting a lock as well , so were does the transformer go. I'm still a bit lost

If I get an 8 core ill be ok?

Thanks for help as well

yer 4 pair, (8 cores) stick the tx anywhere between, normally the CU area via a fused spur. wire the lock in doubled up cores of the 4 pair or fig 8 flex.
its normally easyer to wire a 4 pair from handset to tx in mains cupboard, and 4 pair to a joint box inside the property from front panel and also take lock to joint box just inside.
Then a 4 pair to the tx area and make all conections at mains position... many people take the lock up to front panel and then make conections there and take one 4 pair from there to tx. but as I say above it is not secure.

Ok it a simple wiring job...if you use telephone or cat 5 4 pair...the speech quality will be be better. Din rail power supply installed locally to consumer unit...the 4 cores for intercom, 2 cores comm neg switch to ralease door. on this intercom you will need fail safe door lock
