Hi
I looked in the forums for voltage optimisation
And saw that at home, the average saves from voltage optimisation is around 8%,
Do you know, what is the average save in industry?
Thanks

Depends what is connected to the VO unit. If the loads are mainly purely resistive loads, like heating elements and the like, little to no saving. Motors, refrigeration and other industrial/commercial plant etc and it can make a healthy difference on savings.

These VO units are not really financially viable on normal domestic installations, payback could take years. ..lol!!

on some commercial installs though that are running 24/7 eg 3 phase motors / pumps with unbalanced incoming supplies, the payback should be much shorter and long term savings substantial.

Motors and other industrial machines in a plastic factory, what would be the approximate saving
Thanks

Work done.
Power out = power in + losses. You can't escacpe that fact.

With a question like “what saving at a plastics factory” how do you expect a reasonable answer.

No matter how much digging into these things I do I still can't see how they'll save any cash at all after all, like Tony says power in - losses = power out.
Smoke and mirrors imho.

Our plants were quite happily working at 433V. At the request of our company accountant I tried lowering our 33/11KV intake transformers voltage to give 415V on the plants.

The result, total chaos. Drives tripping on overload, lighting failing, furnaces not responding, etc.
The trial lasted about 2Hrs. It was a total disaster.

The accountant wanted me to lower the voltage to this mythical 400V. No way was I doing that!

Ive said it before but ill say it again. They saved no money at all in a warehouse we maintain. Led to premature failure of discharge lighting amongst other things. When I changed the lamps I found some manufacturers would work and a lot wouldnt. They asked for them to be taken out and after a bit of arguing they told them they could just have them or we could have them if we wanted. We just put them into bypass though as there was quite some work returning it back and plus you can get quite a lot of information on there screen which is good lol.

i'd rather invest in betamax video's than volt-opti.
;-)

I'm not proud, I'll take your money mate. I've been looking for sucker, to off load my Betamax collection. How many Betamax video tapes do want!:joker: Even so you'll be quids in compared to the domestic numpties who opt for voltage optimisation.
