i'm in my 3rd and final year of C&G 2330. when i visited the college 3 years ago the course was sold to me as being THE course to do and at the end of the 3 years i'd be walking away with 16th edition (at the time), inspecting and testing qualifications and everything.when i ask my current tutors about this i'm getting conflicting answers. some will say that i'll have to do a 17th edition course even though i'm learning to the 17th edition (this being the first year of this edition) and that i'll have to do the 2391 inspecting and testing course. another tutor tells me this is bollox and according to the NICEIC once i've passed level 3 i'll be considered by law as a "competent" person and therefore will be able to inspect , test and commision etc. does anyone know exactly what is what as the testing side is something i fancy doing most. what exactly does 2330 give me and allow me to do?

To be able to test and inspec you need to have your 2391. Although you do some testing at college i think the 2391 is more advanced? Im in the same boat as you last year at college and we have to do the 17th edition. Its unfortunate but its not the college fault.

Hi, I have just finnished my 2330 level 3:D. Even though you are being taught to 17th edition, you will still need to do the regs course. Once you pass your level 3, you will be able to do the 1 day update. As far as the 2391 is concerned, you dont get that with the 2330, but as you will know level3 is mainlly about test and inspection, you may well be competent, but most firms still like you to do the 2391, to prove you are capable.

It does mate, the old course which people done before the 2330, did not go into to much the T+I, the 2330 level 3, does a good job of getting you to understand T+I side. And when you do the 2391 you allready have a good knowledge base to start from.

If you complete your level 3 2330 then your 17th edition and join a part p competent scheme then you will be a competent person who can test your own work anyway. simples

Actually mate,i did the 236-2 with the AM2 back in 1987,and i can remember back that far doing inspection and testing, fault finding and fault diagnosis on a rig in the classroom.A lot of the Regs have changed since i did it,but i think you'll find that the principals were the same as the 233 course you are doing;)
