Just came to finish off my last job of the day and infact year, nothing major just fix up a nice new cooker ready for Christmas. Not exactly how it went!

Was told plumber who disconnected old has cooker had a belt off the has pipe, measured at 140V! Currently sitting in the van waiting for DNO to turn up as some idiot has had a bash at making there own TN-S system which has gone horribly wrong!

Just about sums up my week really, it's not been an easy one to say the least!

So much for a merry Christmas....

don't complain. it's jobs like that that sort the men from the boys, or the sparks from the Electrical Trainee's. wouldn't it be boring if all work entailed poking T/E through holes.

My job this morning was cancelled, well there was nobody in when I got there so I waited ten minutes then went home. Then I went to the pub.

so what happened then? you get thrown out?

Well....I was meant to have a done a simple little wind-down job this morning, then gone out on the lash with a customer/friend and a plumber mate of mine. Sadly, Mr 24hr bug had other ideas and I spent most of the day in bed instead, and am now sat here wondering if I can brave a cup of tea.

tea???? be a man and get some single malt down your neck. kills 99% of all known maladies.

So what's the result of 2 x 99%? It'll hit them going down and then back up again.....

Ironically, back in my canoeing days that's EXACTLY what I used to do when I came out of the water to kill anything I'd ingested - always worked a treat!

But...not tonight.

Gas pipes not bonded, sockets not earthed, DIY earthing systems, can't I just knock the house down? Would be easier....haha

gawd. just realised you are in zummerzet. a drop of the old scrumpy that's had dead dogs and sheep in the fermentation will soon sort you out.

Mmmmm single malts. Its that time of year when I tell myself I can afford to indulge.
Bought my dad a bottle of Penderyn but it'll be doing well if it gets wrapped intact.

I use it as cleaner on my rags..... ;) But you're right - there is some still made around here (I really am in the rural bit!) that's er, a little 'too original' to really be of use to anyone other after you've had a few already and want to show off. Most of it is under the counter as it's too strong to be anything other than a spirit!!! My local up the road does a farmhouse out the barrel which still has bits of fermentation and straw (straw pressed) in it on occasions. Most of the old boys tend to go half and half with a dry farmhouse scrumpy and 'fizzy' cider out of the pumps - and I'm not talking strongbow etc!

When I was a lad still at school, we had compulsory Rural Studies for a few years (yes...part of my formal school education was on how to shear a sheep and castrate a pig...) and the fun part of that was going to the country shows. The teacher had a firm rule that you walked off the bus unaided, you walk BACK ON the bus unaided. What happened in the middle was entirely down to us....so that mostly meant getting completely ****ted in the cider tent!!

I had two jobs today. Number one was to change 3 gu10 lamps in downlights, nice easy job and paid for with a decent cup of coffee. Second job was to fit an LED dimmer switch on my way home, however no one was in. So i finished work at 10am and now done for the christmas break, best friday so far!

I couldn't give a stuff. I've done my stint. 14 years of working through every Christmas. I never saw my son open his presents.

40 years in the trade.
I'm retired, f**ked, but retired.

Enjoy yourself while you can

How I wish I could get back in to the industrial game again. I enjoyed it!

Stop moaning!
