I'm currently studying a full time degree yet I want to work part time for myself around my course. I was wondering if it is possible to set up a company without your testing and inspection Certs. Pretty sure one of my old bosses didn't have it but could certify work through elecsa? Is this possible and if so any tips on how to go about it?

Cheers

The question is Are you competant to test and inspect your work once it's complete to ensure its safe to put into service and are you able to complete and issue the appropriate paperwork?

If you are then you should be ok to get registered, but if you have no qualifications to back it up it could get sticky if you ever in front of a judge

best go work as a mate for first couple of years.
you need some practical experience something they dont teach in the schools.

Should of probably stated I'm a qualified Electrician already who's now studying a degree in construction project management. Just subcontracting to firms but now looking for a more flexible approach where I can sign off my own work. Don't really want to have to mess around with night courses to do my 2394 & 2395 when my heads battered enough as it is with my degree. Plus it takes ages to complete and looking for a quick solution to making money throughout this year.

Re Domestic work: You could notify the LABC before you start any work that you intend doing. They will charge you which you will have to pass onto the customer (cost may vary betweens LABC's). But in principle, the answer is yes, you can.
However you don't have to inform the LABC for commercial , industrial work.

Thanks driver man. So what is the situation with testing certificates for commercial installations?
