Hi, was woundering if anyone can explain the current set up for cscs cards. Also if I have qualifications (city&guilds) does this mean i don't need to take certain tests to obtain a cscs card?

You may have to take the test, however not sure about about the other ones but with the NICEIC the card is issued after assessment with no exam or fee.

Chris

no you will still need the cscs test, although i would recommend the ecs test rather than the cscs if you a spark. if you have the 2356 and it is recent you could get the jib card without having to take the ecs test

when you apply for your gradecard you will be asked to supply details of qualifications and an indate ECA/CSCS the CSCS book has a list of questions and answers for the CSCS test the ECA one is different and has a couple of questions which require more knowlage than the CSCS one ie whats the max gap allowed between gaurd rails on an alloy tower scaffold

I think the cscs card is a scam. Its only valid for three years yet your electrical qualifications are valid for life.

When you visit a big site, you still have to have an induction where some health and safety bigot spiels off more health and safety.

First fluorescent vests, designed for road workers, now safety specs and gloves at all times.

I wish you could sign an indemnity to say you won't sue if you didn't have your gloves on when doing a job that doesn't require gloves or safety glasses.

Don't get me started on stupid podiums that do your back in instead of a step ladder.

They have health and safety killjoys patrol like Nazis around sites, whilst doing nothing constructive to the building of the job except threatening you with force of dissmal should you fail not to comply.

The ECS card is only valid for 3 years too
