Hello all.

I will probably be changing the consumer unit that this cut out is supplying. I have not had to remove a fuse that looks like this before and was hoping for some information on it to help me decide on the next course of action.

Is this bakelite?
Has anyone any 'colleauges' that have pulled these with any bad experiences?

I realise I could remove the tails from the Henley block but i'd like to avoid doing anything live if possible, plus i'm interested in the cut out anyway.

Cheers.

Have pulled those before but know idea of composition. I'd be a bit wary of disturbing those VIR tails but shouldn't be too bad. I'd probably just drop out tails from meter or blocks tbh

i'd diss. from henley blocks. as long as there's no load and you work safely. don't use one of these:

Thanks all, I think disconnecting from the Henley's is probably best. Just started a new thread about fitting an S type RCD where the Henley's are!

I have one of these. Not had to use it live yet, but nice to know it's there.
Knipex 98 13 30 VDE Insulated 3mm Hex Allen Key Screwdriver PME Terminal | eBay

Is that the same size as you get on the DNO fitted isolators do you know? I am guessing they are fairly standardised. Got given a smaller insulated Allen key by a meter monkey, and at a guess it probably is around 3mm, but always like to be equipped with the right tools! But will bookmark the link until I can confirm just in case I need one.

The isolator I am thinking of is this type:

Sorry, it's been out of the bag a few times and I've not needed to buy another size, but I can't say for sure that it's been used on that type of isolator.

i just fit a hexdrive allen bit into my VDE bit holder ( or if it's a tight bugger, into the impact driver)

I should get something like that. May opt for a VDE hex driver as an emergency get out of jail card when it may be occasionally needed.

What's wrong with wrapping some insulation tape around your existing Allan key set:biggrin5: 500v insulation test between the tip and the handle and you are good to go :juggle:

might buy one of them though, could come in handy at some point.
