Discuss Dead Short? in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

del, i get that you're a student and i would encourage you to continue using this site as part of your learning curve. but, just a word of advice, when you ask questions, it'd be better if you had a crack at answering them before anyone on the site does. that way, it at least looks like you're having a go and not coming on here to get answers for your homework.

I'm just double checking stuff man.

For homework purposes you should be aware that there's no such term as "dead short" always refer to it as a short circuit.

You sport a C & G level 2 in Electrical installation according to your profile and although we can appreciate you are in training still this level of basic question is a little concerning at your stage in training, it may be the case your experience is just mainly installation with others doing the testing hence its slipped your mind but the first place i would be looking for an answer to this would be my college notes then if you are unclear on any aspect of it rather than how to do it then the question you ask may be more credible of someone of your experience as oppose to what is a basic first year theory question.

Although you seem to have escaped any major shoot down i would suggest you think of the level of your question before posting, i seriously thought you were a DIYer after that question till i checked your profile.......

you would expect that question of someone doing lvl1 not 3/starting lvl3
