Hi Fellas.
Carried out a PIR on two properties own by this fella in East London. no Problems there , but that was about a year ago.He wants to rent them out through the local council and needs a Fire safety alarm certificate as required by them.Think the number quoted BS 5839?.Now i have never got involved in FAS testing as the installs i have done are always tested by others. IE Manufacturers /Designers etc.
Looking at the sheets i have i see sound level checks are required. These houses are 3 storey towm houses and have a detector on each level and a heat in the kitchen. how much info would they need . on the cert in a domestic property. I personally dont want to get involved in that side , but this guy seems to want me to do it ... although i have recommended 2 companys that would do it .
Any input would be appreciated.
Jools

There's a very simple cert, I think it's in BS5839-6 but could be wrong of course. If memory serves me the sound level has to be >98db

I tried and failed to post a certificate, you should easily find one with google, unless there is one on the forum somewhere.

For a domestic property there is hardly any info needed, its all on the cert, all you do is tick box. And take a sound level at each bed head etc, >85db on my cert.

Trev your correct BS5839 prt 6, db levels at bedhead are for part 1 ie hotels, hostels etc. Part 6 requires a average db level taken on various levels/rooms and needs to be greater than 65db. Sound levels are mainly only conducted when commissioning.
