Guys,

just thinking, how sad on a sunday morning. If you had a consumer unit in a garage ran from the main board in the house would you do the Ze tests in the house ( i am thinking yes unless you had a earth spike near the garage is this right). Also if you did put in a earth spike at the garage i take it would also bring your zs readings down from the circuits that come off that board in the garage

can someone confirm thanks

Ze is always measured at the origin of the installation.

What you would measure at the garage DB would be the Zs and PFC of the sub-main supplying it.

As for an extra spike in the garage this would depend on wether you had a TT, TN-S or TN-C-S earthing system to start with. If not a TT then probably no bearing at all as the resistance would probably be too high to make a difference to the readings compared to the TN-S, TN-C-S and bonding conductors etc.
