Hi,

Doing a EICR, and the usual limitations apply as to no lifting of floor boards ect..... also noted that im going to visually check 2 socket, 2 switches and 2 pendants on relevant circuits.

so my query is, when filling in the 'final circuits' section and 'Termination of cables' on the inspection schedule, under sections like 5.3 condition of insulation of live parts, do i put 'LIM' as im unable to verify all connections, or would i tick, if the ones i have visually inspected are fine.

Thanks

You would normally do a percentage (10%) then if they are ok then you can presume the rest are the same, but if 1 shows a problem then you have to check everything

tick, IMHO. as long as it is stated on the EICR that a % sampling is used.

Not too sure what it is you are asking?
At first I thought you were stating that there are 2 sockets, 2 switches and 2 fittings where you are unable to check the terminations.
Now I'm thinking, that you only intend inspecting 2 sockets, 2 switches and 2 fittings, and that the inspection will be purely visual with no dismantling and checking of terminations at all.
What kind of inspection is it you are conducting?
Do you even need to attend the premises?
Perhaps the client could just film the installation on their mobile phone and send you a link to the video on you tube?

I just note in the limitations the % of electrical outlets that I am going to visually inspect which is generally 50% and state that no inspections are carried out within the fabric of the building or voids and vulnerble items that are not IR tested.

I think that this is what you were asking.

Oohhh that would save some time lol

My god it is friday, I have to agree with Spinlondon, what the hell is this so called inspection all about then? talk about Lim lmao, what about Bin? thats where the Report needs to go at that quantity of inspection, and what about testing the actual circuits

Thanks for your answers

those of you that understood what i was asking, thanks

those of you that just like to act like plonkers.........well :6:

BTW

its an EICR report, and yes all circuits will be tested, and regarding the 2 sockets, switches etc........ i was implying on EACH power circuit, i will only carry out a visual inspecting on 2 sockets/fcu, and on each lighting circuits i will be visually inspecting 2 light fittings and 2 switches

A bit of advice about LIM. This is only to be used for agreed limitations between client and yourself. As an example, if you cant isolate a circuit for whatever reason and so it cant be inspected/tested, it is a limitation. There is a disclaimer on the form about not interfering with the fabric of the building, and pulling up floor boards etc etc. If you decide for your own reasons that you are only going to do sampling of the install, then you would record this in the notes, and state your reasons why. And before i get jumped on, it is acceptable to do sampling, but personally i wouldn't except in very exceptional circumstances. The only time i have sampled is on installs that i have installed, maintained and retested, or where the correct paperwork is in place, and no additions or alterations are present.

Cheers...........Howard
