Discuss Fire alarm safety certificates and testing in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

If you don't know how to test fire alarms or which Cert to use for it, how the hell will you know how to fill it out properly so that if the worst was to happen you won't end up banged up for it. Give the job to someone who knows what there doing

Hi
Just need some help filling out fire alarms safety certificates. I do not know how to test them. What type of form shall i will be using?
Some help please...
Is this a wind up? if not then you have serious troubles ahead.

Why are you filling out forms when you have no idea how to fill them out?
Why are you testing Fire Alarm systems when you have no idea how to test them?
How can you fill a form in if you have no idea what form to use?
Who has asked you to do this?
Are you qualified to install the Alarms themselves?
Can you expand on your appalling OP a little bit more so we can all have a laugh?

If you don't know how to fill out the form/cert which in its self is quite self explanatory, then you should not even be touching fire alarms. Leave it to the professionals just like you would with anything else you don't understand.

You can and probably will be prosecuted if that alarm doesnt function correctly and some dies or gets hurt because of it.

1 Surely your training should have taught you this?
2 Surely your training should have taught you this?
3 Surely your training should have taught you this?

If you do not know how to test a fire alarm do not attempt to test a fire alarm.

The bit in bold is a top bit of fire alarm advice.

I don't think the OP is joking, going by his previous posts on the same subject earlier in the year!! What's just as alarming, (excuse the pun) is that he's a qualified electrician, going by his profile anyway!!!!

Most professionals electricians don`t ask questions like the OP has......most pm`s I get from members are serious questions such as, What equipment should I purchase?, Is there a special unit to test batteries?, What`s the best course to take. These electricians are obviously take this role seriously, before they move into maintaining fire alarms.

A good nosey about with a search for Fire Alarm BS numbers would be a good place to start. Then work out what grade of installation you have, and find out from insurers and any other interested parties, is it the right level for the premises. This is before you even go near testing the activation, DB levels at bedhead etc etc etc.

Apart from this, its a fairly easy job to do.

Enjoy.

Cheers...........Howard
