Due to ill health I have been away from the trade a while.
I am now trying to catch up with the changes.
I have a quick question I am hoping to find the answer here.
A friend of mine who has a HMO it consist of 8 rooms all with there own 4 way consumer unit.
The consumer units are the old metal clad Whylex main switch and MCB's and no RCD.
He had an electrician out to do a EICR when he finished he pointed out a couple of broken or damaged switched fused spurs.
He left and said he would send the reports out to him in the post.
Today he received a letter stating The 8 rooms had have RCD protection and he would work out the cheapest way to achieve that.
This building has had annual PIR's changing to EICR submitted to the local council for the last 10 years with no problems.
I did not think you had to bring it up to current regs.
Have I been away that long and this is something that has changed?
Thanks in advance for your help,
