HI ALL, THIS IS MY FIRST EVERY FORUM POST!

SO FAR I HAVE ACHIEVED MY 2330 level 1 2 3 and 17th edition update..im self employed and work for a local maintenance team i have fair experience in the works but my qualification will only take me so far,, and so far im tired of changing "batterd and bruised" sockets and switches..

what courses do i have to do next ?,, im thinking of doing 2391 and applying to a "niceic"etc,, however, who ever i speak to keeps throwing in new numbers and letters which is all a load of confusing S@$%!...that includes my teachers at college...

so i ask you lot today what do i need exactly to be a domestic installer..full scope rewires the lot..

i dont want to be doing unnecessary courses as they are not cheap! and its all coming out of my own pocket!

many thanks to anyone that can help!

Give them a call direct.

I believe a test and inspect is required??? 2392 is the cheaper less involved

I think that this would be the only further required qualification......

As stated, give them a call and ask.

i have emailed them and im going to call them soon as i can,, thanks for the reply,,im certain test and inspection is required just which 1 what are their limitations...if only there was a all in 1 kind of course just to do the lot!

you need the test and inspection course to be approved look at elcsa, napit they are easier to get into with minimal requirements, with the test an inspection side you can get theses within 12 months of the onsite assesment

I am not sure how varied it is, but normally just a couple of simple questions check paperwork ect sure someone else could add to this though best thing to do would be to have a look at them all give them a ring and see which suits you, there is full scope and another which allows or limits you to what you can do, but like i said the best thing would be to call them so you can ask them to explain so you get what you need.

give them a ring Monday you dont have anything to loose

Are you by any chance an Niceic employee or just prone to wishful thinking ?

They are all easy to get into by the way

no!...i have the feeling that the o/p may be looking towards becoming a QS for his employer.....2391 a realistic requirement if so......

Hes self employed so won't have an employer.

Sounds to me as though he just wants to become PART P registered to certify his own and the local maintainece team work off.

lol...thanks David mate....only got to the first post ..then thought i would respond to that before reading on..lol......just a weakness of mine...lol....

Apollo, you need to do your research mate. You don't need inspection and testing qual to get in a scheme. Napit are the strictest regarding this but its still **** poor because they give you a year to gain it and also have a micky mouse course called the NA2391 an open book rip off of the city & guilds 2391. Which I worked my backside of for. All you need is the 17th Edition (how to reference a book) and a stupid EAL domestic installer certificate (a qualification worth diddy and available after. 6weeks of being introduced into the game in a bay). They are all too easy to get in. My scheme have let some right donkeys in in the past month and I'm competing for the same work. Apparently it was meant to be an nvq3 to get in from january. Well still hasn't happened!
