Hi Can anyone give me information on the testing and wiring for a ceramic hob hotplate. The unit in question is a Firenzi EH919 (believed to be a rebadged Electrolux ?). I have been asked to replace a hotplate that my customer has sourced, (he did well as I spent over a hour on the telephone and got nowhere). The unit has four leads. Any help would be appreciated.

hi mate

welcome to the forum:)

my method is scampi, chips, peas, bacon pieces sausage slices and ketchup:D:D

my old mates think cause i eat so much i look like a bottle fuse.

Ceramic hobs usually are wired direct so an ir test should be ok but check with the manufacturers instructions before you test it. Wiring usually is done with high temperature cable or a minimum of standard cable sleeve with high temperature glass based sleeving and the connection such as spade connectors are made from nickel not copper

hope this helps

cheers

Thanks for your reply if only instructions were available from the manufacturer, I am concerned what the reason for four connection leads is. if two are for temperature sensing (thermocouple or simiular) a IR test could damage it. The actual commection to the hob control will not be changed so no concern there.
