I am putting in a new transformer for an extractor fan/light and I thought I had finished but the fan works ok but the light doesnt. I have put in new bulb.
I think i must have wired incorrectly

If this is a "Showerlite" or similar extractor/light then the lamp holders are prone to failing, especially if run with a too high power lamp (if I recall, they are meant for 20W lamps) or if the lamp has been on with the extractor not working.

Another possibility is you have fitted an LED lamp but a transformer not designed to drive LEDs.

Were you sure the transformer was actually faulty before changing it?

Thanks mate, you raise many points. I will do some checking. I just assumed the transformer was not working as I changed light bulb and it still didnt work. I tried both anew led light and also a new halogen
