Hi, never worked domestic.

We need an inspection / certification on a business with a dwelling above.
Looking on the NICEIC website, they have approved contractors, presumably they are the superhero’s that can carry this out?

Try to go with local companies where you can get a word of mouth recommendation from a neighbour for example.

Just because they are listed on NICEIC, doesn't mean they are spotless.

why do every body bleat on how good the NIC EIC are ,when it when the company is charity ,but some how still making money ,do they give the money away to other charity's, me think not so .

There are a number of competent person schemes that can provide this service through their members. They are Stroma, Napit, BSI, Elecsa and are all equivalent to NIC who seem to have the market share of public awareness. But anyone from these schemes who has the C&G 2391 for inspection and testing is perfectly capable of doing an EICR on the property you mention. I mention this just to raise public awareness that there is more schemes apart from the one you mentioned who can offer the same service.

Thanks, I appreciate that we can use a different scheme. But the insurance specifies NICEIC and it’s not worth the hassle of using someone else.

Only because they don't know what they are on about. They'll be looking at a copied and pasted set of requirements from 20 years ago.

NAPIT and the others should have stomped on this when Part Pee came out. It's restriction of trade and probably not legal in these days of free markets.
