Discuss Is an Isolation Switch Required in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

We did a CU before I left my uncle's and we had the meter open, tails out, the whole shebang. We were at the top of the stairs and the customer shouts up "is it alright if the meter guy comes and takes a reading?"

Honestly, talk about impeccable timing. "Erm no, can I shout it down" was my response. "'Fraid not mate, need to come have a look" was meter guys response.

We just downed tools and went outside out the way. Expecting him to come out and kick off and tell us he'd contacted his boss, nope, he came out and spent the next 10 minutes having a bit craic about football.

That's the 12th time I've seen 'dynamic risk assessment' this week, it must be one of those new buzz words designed to give H&S jobs worth's a semi.

'dynamic risk assessment' == if it looks dodgy probably best not to == common sense.

Not new young thruster, something we did years ago before you wore safety hat, toe tectors & voltage detector.

'Dynamic risk assessment' == something looks dodgy, but having weighed up the risks, and the safety measures I've put in place, I reckon I can safely carry out the task in hand, with no risk to myself and others around me. ;)

Some people live on the raggedy edge
