Got a request from a customer to put some LED lights in the panel under the bath.

The place is having a new board and partial re wire, so will be all new regs. But this is a first for me, SO want to know if you guys have any recommendations , makes etc. Also would you have to run the cables up and out of the bathroom for the transformer/controller. Or is it acceptable under the bath snce its only accessable with a tool.

Thanks.

Cheers guys!

I have put some in the plinth of a kitchen before just not a bathroom.
How did you get round the plug/transformer they all seem to come with. The other sparks that helped with the first fix wired it on the kitchen lighting circuit so I had to have a single socket under the plinth, would the leds not just work with a normal lighting transformer and do away with the plug??

Just thought its a bit bad if the fuse goes in the plug.

Fuse is there for a reason. Only the same if the transformer goes, which is more likely than the fuse.

Both, you will have to remove the bath panel. But thats life.

I usually site the LED controllers in the loft where they can be accessed and run low voltage 2 core flex to the lights, hate the thought of placing a Socket under the bath no matter wether it complies or not but thats just me, leaks can easily happen if there's fault with the plumbing :)

Thanks Mags. That makes sense, I too generally try to avoid where the plumber has been, they have a great habit of getting the cables wrapped around hot pipes! let alone the leaks. But how are you getting that set up to come on and off with a light switch?

Just take a neutral from the bathroom lights, JB or fitting, and pair it with the switch live from either the switch or JB. Neutral can also be taken to the switch and joined in a terminal block.
Just make sure all this is RCD protected and the other circuits supplying the bathroom are RCD protected too otherwise you will have to make sure the supplementary bonding is in place.
