Hi there, been reading the posts on here for a while and very informative!

I wondered if anyone here has used micro inverters, in what circumstances and what you think of them?

Had a quote job the other day with different roof surface orientations and drastically different sizes - one can cater for 10 to 11 panels and the other is big enough for 3 panels max. Can't find a single or tracking inverter that will do the job...

Another job had a main roof enough for about 12 panels and a small extension sufficient for 2 - very different inclinations. Same problem, customer looking at the extension as well.

We've had a few like this - one large surface, one very small surface and very different orientations and inclinations. Customers trying to put panels on as many surfaces as possible and the other issue is pv companies often just send out salesmen rather than engineers who are trying to do the same and confuse the issue as the customer is being offered a bigger system - at least on the day they visit...

So wondering about micro inverter potential in circumstances like this....

No experience (yet) of micro-inverters (my main supplier is apparently about to introduce them) but from the sound of it you've got customers with strange ideas. Fitting odds and sods of panels on any old bit of roof will (a) look messy and (b) end up costing more in installation than they'll ever get back. Agree with you on the salesmen issue - I've heard of door-knockers promising the earth on the doorstep when if they'd got out a compass they'd have known the house wasn't even pointing in the right direction, or they could have looked and seen the roof wasn't big enough. Conmen!!
