After PAT testing appliances,do you have to issue a certificate additional to sticking the labels on?
If so where are these certificates because there aren't any on my NIC portal.
Any help would be appreciated.

I used to provide a PDF with all the test results on it. Just an Excel spreadsheet which was saved as a PDF.

Not sure if there is a standard one in the COP. I think all that is needed is 'evidence' of it being done - which can be interpreted however one chooses I guess.

I provide a simple list as pdf or printed that I knocked up in Word, just to show that I've done something... I only do it for landlords, community groups etc though rather than businesses...

Megger do a free downloadable software one (form filler v1) but I found making my own one easier.

The people who make the software I use for normal certs Tysoft also do a separate product which has some previews of the certificates it produces, but they don't look much different to a simple excel list...

I always complete a spreadsheet showing asset number / make & model / serial number / test results and notes (which would include comments about non-standard test conditions and advisory items.) It's not a certificate as such but a record of the information gleaned during testing. If applicable, we would also issue a report for management purposes showing the pass / fail status for all items on a site and our observations about maintenance, testing regime and any overall recommendations.

When testing a single item as a one-off, I write the results on the pass label so that in theory the user or next tester can refer to them, as if there is already an asset log with test results it's unlikely to be updated in the meantime.

An excellent response
