a friend wants sockets and lights in a shed, the house board feeds a seperate board in the garage which is in 10mm T&E. would people recommend coming off the garage shed and feeding a seperate board in the shed if so what size cable ? or would you recommend coming off the main board and again how would you recommend its wired ?

I think we'll need a little more info. Type of earthing system in house, garage, what's proposed for the shed. Design load for the shed. Supply to garage (does it have any spare capacity). The 10mm to the garage will allow a feed up to about 50A if needed.

i dont know the supply i live south this is needed up north :| its either gonna be a tns or tncs ill get a picture and inform you tomorrow. well only a few sockets are needed for power tools and a few lights and her dad was planning on coming off the garage board hes already ran 2.5 t&e there ( only one cable) and was planning on using that till i said no. so im assuming theres a spare way on the board

There are two bits to consider for earthing with a distribution circuit, protecting the cable supplying the feed and the earthing arrangement for the circuits fed from the DU. Depending on the type of earth at the supply, the advice may well be different. There's a good write up on exporting TNC-S as a sticky. You may even find that the house (or garage) has a TT earth.
