Can somebody give me a rough idea on the labour cost (and timescale) of having an old coin operated electric meter replaced with a digital pre pay meter, not the card type installed by electricity suppliers but the pre pay ones available to buy.

Yeah should I ask the question there or is it OK to post this new thread?

May have been an idea to add it to the other thread, people see something odd with this thread if they connect it with the other. If I read the first one correctly you are asking how much to change the meter belonging to the other landlord.

He replaced his own coin meter with a prepay one and did the work himself which is suspect to begin with, he is attempting to recover the labour costs for the work which I think are disproportionate to the work undertaken, hence my question.

Replacing a old coin meter with a modern pre pay meter should be an hours job, including tea break time, assuming there's no issues with the original installation.
Power off, terminal cover off, loosen four (usually pairs) of terminal screws, unscrew two small screws, lift meter off of third screw in keyhole slot. Fit new meter as reverse of above.
Wires should all be in the right place, and more than likely, all the screw holes will be.
