Hi all

I've got a megger pat4DV, after numerous problems with getting powersuite to install on windows7, I now cant get the data to download to my laptop. I've got a 9pin to USB as haven't got a 9 pin input on laptop. Any ideas as im really struggling.

Device manager displays USB icon. when I try to download to powersuite it all loads up, but just wont connect. thanks for reply.

Couple of things I have come across when downloading the Megger PAT4

1) What USB to Serial Converter are you using? Is it one with an FTDI chipset?

If you want to check which chipset your USB to Serial Converter is using:

Under Ports (Com & Lpt) in Device Manager (accessed through control panel on your PC), right click on the USB Serial Port and select properties, and click on the Driver tab.

You should see the name of the Driver Provider there.

2) Have you checked which com port the USB to Serial Converter has been assigned? Often programs are expecting the port number to be 1 to 4 and not 15, 16 etc. The port number can be changed under the advance settings in device manager.

3) Are you using the download lead with your Megger PAT4 as well as the USB to Serial cable? The Megger PAT4 data lead is wired specifically and needs to be attached in line with the USB to serial converter.

Hope some of this may provide some clues.

Hi, thanks for advice. I haven't tried using the megger lead aswell. Also my usb-serial converter doesn't appear to be FTDI chipset type. will get some more leads
