We had an electrical short in our dishwasher which I'm 99.9% sure was caused by a faulty power switch, which you can see pictured. I've since bought a new switch, but as I have absolutely no electrical knowledge/qualifications at all, I'm trying to work out what to do with the cable connectors. As you can see some of spade cases are blackened from the short and I'm unsure as to whether I can simply reuse them. Their condition seems fine apart from the colouring, but obviously I can't see inside them. I'd really appreciate anyone's advice on how to tackle this one.

Buy a replacement switch. Cut off all the old push-on spade terminals and crimp on some new ones. Once they've been overheated they lose their tension and don't make good contact so if you don't crimp some new ones on you'll fit the switch and the same problem will reoccur.

Here's the female crimp on terminals

Here's the crimping tool.

Thanks for the tips. Will the PVC insulation be enough for the kind of temperatures I could expect over these connections?

The wiring looks to be PVC insulated and the switch also looks to have been PVC so I'd say yes. Generally in domestic dishwashers PVC insulation is adequate.
