Hi all

Just gone self employed. I'm not yet part p, but obviously need to join asap, What's the cheapest , most cost effective way of doing it?

Also any does anybody know a good provider of websites , so i can start a website for the new company

Many thanks

Tom

Join Elecsa its about £470 inc VAT, you'll need PL ins, tester with cablibration etc.

How much did you budget for your website?

I'm no longer in Wales, I've moved to Northamptonshire. I'm fully qualified with 2391 also, Not actually budgeted for a website yet but dont mind spending a few quid :-)

Like Murdoch said then really.

I can pm you a link to a good web designer. He took over my existing web site and concentrated on my SEO's (Search engine optimisation), that's where your money is best spent. It's all well and good having a good looking website but useless really if people don't get to see it.

I'm not at all convinced about wasting money on SEO. Most people who look at my site do so because they've seen one of my adverts!

June 2011 they charged me £468 inc VAT!!

Maybe it was £444 before VAT became 20%
well it was long after june when i sent my fees off....and it was £444 inc Vat....so i would check to see if you were overcharged Murdoch.....

From the ELECSA website:
Section 8: Fee Sheet
The fees set out in this document are for the assessment, certification and maintenance of your ELECSA registration. All fees are effective from 1st January 2011 and are subject to VAT at the current rate unless expressly stated. Prices apply until further notice and are inclusive of travel and subsistence expenses.
FeePart P Registration & Annual Renewal
Online Application for Registration and Annual Renewal £370.00
Paper/Telephone Application or Non-Direct Debit Annual Renewal £390.00

My first registration last year cost £370 + VAT, but I need to look into this before my renewal to see exactly what direct debit they want you to have in place.

That's why you need good SEO's!!! You want people who don't know about you to find you.

Second to word of mouth/recommendation, it's where I get most of my work now. I no longer need to pay for advertising either, which is great.

I think I could have done better in my previous response - most people who see my adverts probably don't use google!

Good point.

I know at least 1 person who pays Elecsa over 12 months, yet when I asked last year they offered me payments over 3 months.
