In a house where steel supports have been put in . Cables will have to be run beside these girders. The cables are resting on the metal but these don't need to be earthed ?
Do they ?

are they extraneous?

I would have said that they are not part of the wiring system so they would not need to be earthed, however if they are introducing an earth potential then they would need to be bonded.

If they are going to be boxed in and not available to be touched (almost gauranteed in a house) then they won't need to be bonded.

Thanks for the replies yes will be covered over and resting on brick piers .I didn't think that they would need to be bonded but just checking . I didn't think that HE would have an input into my query I feel a bit honoured
