Discuss Swimming Pool ceiling downlights in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi, is IP54 OK for down lights in an indoor swimming pool ceiling or does it have to be 12V? Thanks in anticipation, Rob

Why for christ's sake would an indoor swimming pools ceiling lights need to be 12 volt??
We generally use the typical totally enclosed plastic exterior flu fittings in such areas (including the swimming pool mechanical rooms). I'm pretty sure they are over IP 54, but then does yours need to be? Depends on what sort of ceiling heights you have in the swimming pool area. One thing here, i wouldn't be using metal light fittings in a chlorine vapour environment....

go for shower rated fittings if you like, no one can reach them anyway so all your attempting to do is keep moisture out of them.

just stick to 230 fittings
