Hello Everyone --

So, I am looking to buy a used 5HP 3PH 208 V 10 inch Table saw --- (Motor Plate Data in Image) I am a DIY'er and in this case I would not attempt to do a 3PH to Single Phase conversion myself -- (I have looked at many videos and read several articles about how to do it but I just want to have it done the most correct way if there is one...)

My thought is to visit a motor repair shop and have them give me the most appropriate method to be able to run the heavy duty saw on a 240 volt Single Phase system in my home wood shop. Then I would have an qualified electrician make the conversion for me with the components recommended by the motor shop owner.

OK ... What say the forum members?

Motors and american wiring is not my area, but I would look into getting a soft starter or speed control unit. I believe you can now get ones that take a single phase input and have a three phase output.

Thank you R-fur for the reply --- Since no American has responded, I think your help can lead me in the right direction --- First off I did a web search on Soft Start or Speed Controllers -- And after a short bit, I found this link: https://www.supplyhouse.com/Square-...2A-Output-Current-120-to-480VAC-Input-Voltage The device is described as "Soft Start 12A, 200-480VAC (110-240VAC 1-Phase), 24V or 110-240VAC, 3HP@230VAC - 7.5HP@460VAC (1-Phase: 0.50HP@110VAC - 2.0HP@230VAC), 1 to 5 seconds (adjustable), No soft stop, 1 or 3-Phase"

The table saw that I want to convert to run on a 230-240V Single Phase Power is 5HP 3450 RPM, 208 Volt, 12.6Amp, 60Hz, 3-Phase. (See Motor Tag Image)

Please reply (all replies welcome here) and speak out as to "if" this unit (see controller link and image) would be the appropriate device, to do what I need to do, to convert the 5HP 208V 3Ph table saw to run on 230-240V Single Phase Power.

Thanks again -- RichInTn
