If I was your age, an apprentice and had 17 grand to spend I'd be putting most of it towards a house. Or if you already have a house take a chunk off the mortgage.
Like a Prat I should thinkTotally agree!!
I bought a black Evo 8 in 2014 instead of a house I was looking at.
2 years later sold the car for 50% less, whilst the house had doubled in value. How do you think I felt......

no mortgage, if i cant pay for it on the spot i dont buy itWhat if he's paid the mortgage off?
i agree, but id rather not pay over the odds for 4 walls and a roof when i do purchase, buy a cheapish fixer upper and work my way up the ladderBut surely renting is worse.
No capital gain
Paying someone elses mortgage with no house to show for it after 25 years
Can be turfed out by the landlord against your will etc etc
Then fair enough. His apprenticeship would have to be paying more than mine did though! Or maybe his circumstances are different. What if he's paid the mortgage off?
