i have a previous testing and inspection disc which works on my last laptop which had microsoft word 2007 installed on it, but i have now got a new laptop which has word 2011 installed on it, and the disc does not work properly, all the columns and box's are all over the place.

does anyone know why this is

where i can get new software without paying huge amounts of money

Yep when MS brings out a new version of Office ie 07 or 10 or 11 they are backword compatable in other words when somebody sends you a 2003 word document you can read it thats the good news the bad news is when you send the a 2010 word doc they cant read it because the majority of companies are all running 2003 so my advice is save any docs you are sending in 2003 format (you will see this option under save as) Also you should never have to send a word doc because antivirus software does not like them as they can carry a virus but also you are no longer in control of your own document ie I make my invoices up with 2003 but also save a PDF copy when sending to the customer ie cant be tampered with.
