I was in there this afteroon and could not believe the conversation going on between a guy who was a spark and the lad behind the counter. Basically the so called spark was asking about double pole switches to replace an RCD on one side of the DB as he was on job where he changed the Dist board and the lighting circuit was tripping the RCD. He told the guy behind the counter he wanted a price on a double pole switch because he believed the rcd was tripping due to a fault on a neutral, either that or a price on a 1 core armoured, yes 1 core, so he could add a neutral to the lights because the existing may be faulty, the guy behind the counter who is no more than a tea boy told him a cost of both and then actually got a 100 amp Double pole switch for him which worked out cheaper which would fit in place of the RCD. The guy paid cash and they were both happy. I went to my van, well I staggered there, and was just about to drive away when My phone went off and so I answered the call on my hands free. Whilst I was in the van chatting to a customer the numtey from the wholesalers walked out and got in a sign written van of a well known electrical company which is registered with the NICEIC and it is an approved contractor, not a DI but approved, I nearly choked on my costa coffee, FFS whats happening to the trade, appalling, absolutely flucking ridiculous. And I still can't believe it, the guy was around 45 as well, so either a late starter or he has been in the trade for a while, Gasp. I am so concerned I may ring the company tommorrow and speak to the Boss and tell him the story. Question 1= why did he pay in cash? Question 2 why did he ask a young lad from the wholesaler for his advice? Question 3= why does a so called respected company employ Chimps (pardon the pun)? Question 4= why does he think a 1 core armoured will sort out the problem? Question 5= why is he prepared to remove an RCD and install a DP switch because it trips when the lights are switched on? I could go on about this all night, WTF is going on with our Trade?

So it's not just the self-employed 5WWs then?

he's obviously doing a homer. hence the cash. he might work for the firm but not be a spark, just picked up enough knowledge to be dangerous.

I mean ..... come on Mark - EVERYBODY knows real tradesmen drink tea, black with 6 spoons of sugar out of a white enamelled tin cup with blue ring around its rim and you leave the spoon in!

Coffee in a Styrofoam cup in a Tradesman's hand is just wrong on so many levels - it makes you look like a city-slicker yuppie for a start. Next you'll be wearing the red braces, and that's just one step away from owning a Filofax and using ....... MOISTURISING CREAM!!!!!!

Is that a sight you'd want your children to see??

Quite frankly Fella I don't care whether you and Tel think I am a numpty because I like Creamflow and Coffee or not, you can carry on as long as you want taking the PI$$, I enjoy the banter, I won't stop drinking Wothingtons and I won't stop drinking Coffee from a styromfoam cup, I am a southern softy and we live this way down here. I am a very proud Gloucester and Englishman, I don't like child molesters, I don't like Cowboys, I don't like Tories and I don't like racists, Otherwise I am a very chilled out fella, I love a laugh and I love a costa coffe so Fluck off, I would be happy for my children to see me drink a coffee from Costa and Happy to see them drink a worthy's as well. I have noticed you and Tel like giving me a hard time because of my Like for the creamflow, you carry on mucker I think your a good en, but the PI$$ taking about the creamflow is funny but also becomming a bit of a bore.
