I want to run 4 showers from an unused phase in a hotel, these are already installed and in use but are supplied from another board that is maxed out as far as demand in concerned with the occasional tripping on assorted circuits, I have had the chaps from the DNO who say it is not a problem to run in the unused phase to a new meter and then to a switched disconnector for me, However he has warned about the possibility of pre-existing interconnection between boards, phases 1 and three are used at present 1st phase supplies showers on one floor, 2nd phase unused ,3rd phase supplies everything else including the showers in question these are at present supplied by a 80A RCD in 6mm SWA spurred from henlys from the meter, Now to check that this shower board is safe to be supplied by the unused phase what is the procedeure you guys would use, I would dis-connect from the source IE the "out" side of the ist RCD (there is one in the board upstairs) and carry out normal Polarity, Cont, Ins, but the guy from the DNO said I should check that there is no Live to Live interconnection IE something else connected to the main board and the shower sub, any suggestions welcome and have I missed something obvious.

take the outgoing feed from the RCD as you suggest, then test that all that board is "dead".

Cheers Telectrix , My thoughts exactly but I still cant come up with a scenario as described by the DNO chap that why I think " what am I missing here" ? But like you say if it's dead with the other board(s) on I cant think of one.

This guy is a meter installer, not a DNO operative. Many of these guys have only had a days training before they are lt loose installing meters and the like albeit with another installer for the next couple of days or so.

I wouldn't take that much notice of such a guy and rely on your own knowledge and experience to sort these things out!!!
