Is it right the "bodies - nic etc" are considering extending calibration certs to two yearly instead of yearly in future? , something about if you can prove still in range, ie check against calcard etc. though i'd heard somewhere...

You don't need to keep gettimg it calibrated if you have a record book setup, you can have it calibrated once, then use circuits in your own home to make sure the meter is reading consistantly.
I also have a resistor box that I made up and use this for insulation readings.
Keep it recorded monthly and then you can show any inspector that the meter is consistant.

Elecsa sell a Calcard for use as a standard reference for low resistance and insulation resistance measurements. I'm about to get my tester calibrated and I think I'll get a Calcard and start a record of readings to reduce my cost next year...

I heard if you checked your meter regulary and kept a record then it was 3 yrs but
MY meter was part of a course i did 18 months ago and has manufacturers cert

I contacted megger to ask them does it need re calibratation as i havnt used it from date of purchase the cert is now over 18 months old when i cantacted negger they said the calobration cert only begins date fo first commision and you fill in the relevent box on the cert with date of first use
I contacted Elecsa they said that would be fine this was about a month ago
I rang again last week to check before registering to ask a few things so asked again to be sure and this time tech guy said that the cert had to be no more than 1 year old but dont worry this would just result in a non conformancy then i would have to get it calibrated again and send evidence to prove its done to gain a pass for the assesment ????

So best thing to do is get it done seems to me no one knows depends on who you ask lol

Hi Guys, I've just had my multi function and pat testers calibrated at TER Calibration in Wigan. Great friendly service! Dropped it off on my way home from work and they guys stayed late to do them ready for 7am collection the next day. Faultless and a great price too!

Hi there I have suggested TER Calibration Ltd once before but they offer a fast economical and very friendly service. Collect deliver and while you wait
