A client wants 2 fans in a bathroom, one for the normal bathroom and one solely for the shower to come on when the shower is switched on. I am not sure how to wire the shower fan because if you put it on a timer the permanent live will be protected by a 45 amp MCB and not 6 amp as it should be. Please help.

Whats the reasoning for the two fans???? I can only assume that they want a fan to operate without having to turn the lights on when showering in the day.

The alternative options I would recommend would be:

1. Have the fan operate independently via a pir
2. Install a fan with a pull cord
3. Install a fan with a humidity stat

You can't run fan from shower switch directly as you already know due to OCPD being too high for fan wiring. You could consider having another pull switch on lighting circuit for fan. You could also consider use of ceiling PIR's to control fans.

i'm not a shower fan. i prefer a long soak in a bath with the jacuzzi bubbling and a JD in my hand.

I think the only alternate is to put a pull cord for the fan because the other two suggestions you put will have the fan running without the shower being turned on. Thank you for all your help. Much appreciated
