The missus was watching Big Brother and remarked how she liked a light they have in the house, I had a look and it's just a bit of conduit and some boxes.

Daft as it sounds I'm pricing a domestic job where they want conduit in certain places.
They must have seen the same magazine

Must admit, I prefer conduit in conservatory installs over t&e in YT2 where chasing cables in is not practical.

Just looks better/neater - maybe I'm a trendsetter. (Lol)

I'd use a good thread lock compound to any threads you don't want to move!! lol!!

Think i'd be mounting it on a wood/metal plinth or whatever with a felt base, ...if you're not keen on the thing as it stands, scratching surfaces. Id use the plain cast box lids for the outrigger boxes, instead the spouted box lids shown...

Who's selling these things at a very cheeky (to say the least) £294???

do my bit for the existing install...

Craft fair, probably sell none. Interior designer for £100 each may be more interesting........dipsticks.

Looks like it's wired in pyro.... but.... I bet it's not! :wink5:

Where's the pyro? Looks like black flex in a brass stuffing gland to me, pyro glands don't look like that normally.

:wink5::wink5::wink5:......honest ?

Thinking about it, dave, there was a pyro gland that did look quite like that, in the 70's. It was crimped to the cable rather than screwed. Didn't last for long, rubbish idea.

I think I've heard about them, referred to as wedge-pots and fitted with a tool that was a bit like a pair of mole grips?

Them's 'em. I'll have a trawl in the stores sometime, see if I can find out tucked away. Probably binned 'em, though.

It's a pity the Internet wasn't about when the old hands were making sledges at Xmas.
"a hand made bespoke toboggan built with traditional craftsman methods using industrial grade tubing price £450......
could have made a fortune instead of selling them for a fiver

I have had my brain removed or sad enough to watch this load of rubbish supposedly called entertainment

regarding the micc glands they also brought out pots that were shrunk on using a gas blowtorch as the pot was warmed up it shrunk onto the micc all you then had to do was slide on the sleeving
they were withdrawn too altho i thought they were great
