Hi, setting up my HD freesat PVR box to a HD 1080i Sony TV HDMI

The set up on the Sat Box is asking for 1080i/25 or 1080i/30 under Video output settings.

What should i use for best video output.

Thanks in advance.

The 25 and 30 refers to the frame rate. I would say the faster the frame rate the better, but I would look at the TV's instruction manual and see if it will run at 30 frames.

What Freesat box are you using? I'm looking for a decent one for my mother and father in law.

I was having this issue the other day.

I got a Virgin media TiVo box and connected it via HDMI to my Samsung 40" LED screen.

For some reason if it's using 1080p it will only do 25fps, but 1080i will do 50...

Personally I can't tell the difference!

1080p p = progressive scan

1080i i = interlaced scan

An interlaced scan at 50 fps will equal a progressive scan at 25 fps. Interlaced scan updates every other line in the frame ie 1 3 5 7 etc then in the next frame with 2 4 6 8 etc
