Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has completed the new inspect and test courses on here? I am due to take take them early 2013.

I don't have a strong test and inspect background as we have one guy on our firm that does it all, but I do need to get it done as i will be starting a new role soon. I have 10 years experience as a spark but in industrial control systems. I do plan on doing plenty of revision and preparing myself as well as possible. Any advice or thoughts on the course will be gratefully received.

Thanks!

I am also doing it early in the new year. We are providing it at my work (I work in an FE college). No insider information unfortunately until I have done it.
As far as preparation is concerned I would recommend:

The 2391 revision guide (still has a place on your bookshelf)
GN3
BS7671:2008 (2011) ammendment 1
GS 38

Memorise the exact sequence of tests as stated in GN3. Make sure not to use site terms.

You could also try this:

City and guilds 2394 and 2395 courses, Inspection, Test and Certification, C & G 2394, C & G 2395.

it covers 2394 / 5 information for home study in CD rom or download format for a pretty reasonable fee. In fact having seen it I'll download it and let you know if its any good.

if you haven't got much experience of testing, i'd recommend taking a course that's spread over 2 to 3 months (1 evening a week). the 5 day intensive courses that are available don't really give you much time to learn gn3.

having said that, i did 2391 which required you to learn everything on just the one course. i don't know much about the new qualifications, except that they're split into two. so maybe the shorter courses will give you ample time to learn the required info'.

Cool thanks pyrosym very helpful! Shagbite thats s good idea mate, I did plan on doing the intensive but you make a good point about the revision time. Whats the average price for this course? Ive been quoted £790-860 so far, seems expensive?

Is that £790-860 for both, or each?
I would imagine that each would cost about the same as the 2391, so both should amount to double.
Not a money making scam at all.
