Hi guys,

Just enrolled on to the 2396 course at my local college, have a little bit of information on the course but was just wondering if anyone had any more information or advice they could give. Or any pass test papers even from the 2391-20 course just so i can get the jist of what they are asking for in the exam. Also could any tell me a bit more about what the project involves and what sort of information they give to you?

Many thanks

Stu

you mean you didnt get this info before enrolling lol ?
it will be commercial installations based course , heavy with maths.
hope youre good at both :)

Hi, I have just received the result from my theory exam that I took in June and I PASSED!!!!
I was expecting a fail as it was the hardest exam Ive ever done. Its not so much the content, its more the amount of writing needed within the 3 hour limit. Everyone who took the course said the same, not enough time for the amount of detail we felt that we needed to put into the questions.
It is very maths based, 2 questions on calcs from a brief spec they give you.
The rest is mainly focused on getting knowledge from BS7671, GN1 and the OSG.
A good understanding and working knowledge of the books is essential!
As for the project, Ive started it, lots of groundwork to do deciding what fitting to supply, type of wiring system to use and stuff like that. The drawings for this years project are available on the web dont know if you will get a different one because the june one was the same as the first one that was done in march.
Good Luck with the course!
Where about's are you doing in and how much did it cost?
I did mine in Harlow at TCT cost just over £800 but now ive passed it feels worth it.

Well done mate...can you remember what sort of questions they ask you in the exam and where abouts online can you get the drawing? Im doing it at a college near me in uxbridge and it cost me £715!

I did my assignment at home, all I paid for in cash was the assignment pack and exam entry fee, but it cost me a full six weeks of my life, eight hours a day, six days a week.It was gruelling in the extreme,I had to dig deep for all the I did pass both the exam and assessment of my project. I would not recommend this method to anyone, but if you can afford the time and not the £800, welcome to hell and go for it!
