So I have a staircase which has a ceiling rose at the top of the staircase. It has a switch for it both at the top and bottom of the staircase.

I needed a second ceiling rose at the bottom of the staircase which is controlled by the same two switches (hence both light will turn on/off at the same time)

Would I just need to connect the new rose to the existing one?

yes.

Above is your answer mate.

Please be aware that there are other considerations, like RCD protection, Safe zones.... that need looking at if you are installing this cable.

get a spark in to do the job for you
saves the hassle.

I could be tricky and argue that if it were me, I would pull the cable through and have it fitted and tested faster than I could arrange for a spark to arrive and do the work

The key word however being 'tested'. If the OP can't do that, for sure they should get a pro in.
