Hi guys
im not an electrician but just want some advice before i get ripped off please...
i want three instantaneous water heaters putting one in the kitchen, one in the bathroom and one in an outside utility all 9.6kw units along side my oil fired central heating but unsure how they will all go in consumer unit ect just advice on best options for this so i don't get someone telling me i need silly amounts of money to do it???? ive found the units at about £150ish each so far...
hope someone can help
Cheers Lee

that's 120A total., i assume that they would not all be in use at the same time, but , even so, it's a big load. each would probably require 10mm cable. i would advise against such loads on a domestic installation.

The load is quite high, if they were all on at the same time you would exceed your max demand for the install and possibly blow the main fuse if they were on for a period of time.

I'm sure your sparks has taken into account the loads and will price accordingly. - get 3 quotes.
10mm cable is currently approx £3 per metre.
I get so many customers say - you charge me £350 for a CU change, I can get them for £60 from screwfix.
Sometimes I wonder why they don't try it themselves then call me once its mucked up.

Why would you need a 9.6kW instantaneous water heater in the kitchen and utility room?? In both those rooms the KW rating can be substantially reduced. In fact i fail to see a reason for them at all, with an oil fired central heating system installed. If you think they will be cheaper to run, ...Think again!! lol!!!

As much as i dislike passing work over to a wethead i'd imagine it will workout about the same price (if not cheaper) to have a tank installed and a proper hot water system run around the abode...will certainly be cheaper to run.

Just dont fall into the age old trap of 'you'll need a new combi fitted for that!!'.....as it's likely your oil fired boiler is more than capable of doing both hot water and heating.

if you want hot water in variouse places why dont you get under sink water heaters 5 ,10, 15 ltr great for small area requirements

With the greatest respect, before you rush out and buy these units you do need to get a couple of competent electricians round to make an assesment of your installation as it may not be possble to add such a load to your installation.

Yes - why exactly do you want 3x instantaneous water heaters, apart from the obvious?
The overall effect (hot water) could be achieved cheaper by doing it another way.
As you say, it's a good job you checked before getting someone in, although you might have only been ripping yourself off!
