As above i'v just received a call this morning from a company looking for an electrician for a firm that manufacture refrigeration units, their after some one to help with fault finding and basic wiring BUT i only really have experience on the domestic side of things as this is what i was doing as an apprentice when i lost my job while doing my final year.
Will be working 6-6

Do you think i should go for it?
How hard can it be?

Any input would be very much appreciated

go for it. what have you got to lose?

absolutely nothing at the min as im on JSA, held out aslong as i could and spent the last of my saving's etc before i went and signed on, just hate not working now

Engineer 54 is right on the money!
If you can read schematic drawings, and have a reasonable working knowledge on controls it will be a doddle.
As others have said, go for it. :) its all additional experience and it pays the bills!

well got a call a few hour's ago and the company have looked at my C.V and want me to start Monday morning, going in this week to have a face to face chat about what is involved ,wages etc

cheers for the support

Any job is better than JSA.

The problem you may have is qualifications.

i don't know how qualified you are, but a lot of work nowadays requires a certificate.

im not putting you off the idea, it's just a bit rubbish turning away nice work that you aren't allowed to do. Unless of course it's off the cards :D

Was in the process of doing my final year at college when lost my job, had been doing it 6 month's before i 1st started college, my C.V has every qualification/certificate iv had issued, i understand what you say tho as it's screwed me a few times up to now not having my CARDS so to speak

Yep. I made sure I got all my papers before I left my company. I was more qualified than my boss :)

i do know of other electricians who have gone through life paying other electricians to issue certificates for their work...

whats the point? Get your papers in order and charge £££ to sign it off.

knows it, i got the boot mate and tbh our Supervisor was ****e he didn't know how to do 2way lighting, it was only when 1 day we were doing a rewire and he came in and started going whats that, what's all that **** n a went the old wiring for the 2way

ooo how he didnt like an apprentice showing him how to do it lol

Something my father told me > you'll never get rich working for someone else.

get back in the game, sort your qualifications out, learn as much as possible, get registered and earn some real mooooooonaaaayyyyyy

that's the plan, im already confident doing testing as that was a major thing my company wanted me to learn, in the end the supervisor used to just leave me in 1 flat testing while he tested another 1
