Discuss Best route to 17th Edition in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi

Just returning back to the game after many years out, any views on the best route to getting the 17th regs qualification:

Distance learning and exam?
College one evening a week?
Several day training course?

Any pro and cons on the above would be appreciated and any ideas of costs also details of any other ways, if any, of obtaining the qual.

Recommended providers would be useful.

Many thanks

When I did mine, the local-ish college offered the course on a Saturday over 6 weeks...I found this to be a happy median, in that it provided enough time to absorb the information, but was not as laborious as a 10/12 week evening course.

The real benefit however, is that I did not need to take time off of work, and it only cost me something like £125

How long have you been out of the game, and where abouts are you?

As above this is the most cost effective route. Search the posts for exam navigation software posted by chris_b_52 he has put together free software that is similar to the exam itself and will give you all the practice you need

Good luck

Been out full time since 1983 ! but done work since then on house renovations, but nothing since Part P came in. Just need to get back up to speed with quals. I'am in Manchester area

27 years is a fair amount of time, as acat says, get some practice in...the 17th ed exam is 60 multiple choice questions in 2 hours, open book, i.e. you can take the regs in with you and use it as a reference guide....therefore, make sure you have a copy of the 17th edition, and one of the most important things for this exam is to be able to navigate it quickly.

I don't know of any training centres in Lancs, I am down sarf.
