Hi,
Are ceramic hobs prone to problems with RCD's when the hob is a few years old?
I changed a board yesterday, despite a couple of minor problems, when the lady (nearly 90) went to put her dinner on, as soon as she turns any ring on it trips the RCD... I felt bad to be honest.
I am going back later to PAT test the hob and just try disconnecting the other circuits on that RCD to eliminate anything else just encase its a build up of leakage, but did measure the leakage on the other circuits and it was less than 1mA so unlikely to be that.
Everything else is working fine, I did call her late last night to check she was ok and nothing had tripped as was concerned as she was elderly, she said it was all ok, so I can only think its the hob with a fault, unfortunately if it is, its one of those things you don't find out until you switch it all back on.
