Hi

I connected black wire to neutral and red one to Live one, but extractor fan still does not work. Please see photos attached.

Does it mean I need to split red wire into 2 and connect to the very left and very right sides to make it work, or am I missing something?

would appreciate an advice.

yours kindly,

Igor

The fan appears to be a timer version, which requires both L and SW L to be powered for it to operate.

Just fit an link between the two.

And sleeve the bare earth that is waving about.

Thank you for your reply! much appreciated!

if it is okay, may I ask how do I fit a link between the two? Or where could look up how to do this?

Just never did this before,

Yours kindly,

Igor

You just need a short length of red with both ends stripped. Maybe 3cm long

Bend it over to make a “U” shape.

One end goes in with the red you’ve got, the other end goes in the far right empty terminal.

Ideally, the left is for a permanent live, the right is for the switched live from the light. Fan would come on with the light, then timer would keep it running for a while after the light was turned off. But that would need another cable.

Before anyone says anything, this appears to be a replacement (paint marks on wall) so we can assume it’s in a sensible place, and wired correctly.
