When using red through crimps on .75 flex, with enough force should I be able to pull the cable out? I can't seem to get a tight enough crimp, it takes some force but I can pull it out. Is it the crimper?

no, it's the user. red crimps are for 1.5mmsolid or strandedcable. not flex and definitely not .75. even a thicko tyre fitter would not put a 17" tyre on a 16" wheel.

With enough force Wor Lass can pull tree stumps out of the ground. How much force are you using?

You shouldn't be able to pull it out at all. Do you have a decent pair of ratchet crimpers? It may be your technique.....takes a bit of practice.

Edit: as pointed out, with enough force most things can be pulled apart!!! And using the correct gear helps..:)

jury is still out on crimps and solid. personally, i use the line products push-in , in line connectors.

It was just a question after playing around with my crimper, its not for a specific job

Im keeping out of this one we have enough lengthy threads on this with similar conclusions and you all know my thoughts on using standard insulated crimps on solid cable... a big no no IMHO it deforms the crimp and can create micro fractures in the crimp wall as the cable does not change shape to the re-formed crimp shape unlike stranded and fine wire, 9/10 times this wouldn't cause too much concern well not until you throw 1kv + of fault current through it and it shows it true nature as a poor crimp.... even though it passed the totally useless tug test... all this does is weed out the really bad crimps but is not a way to ensure a good crimp.

Correct crimp + correct crimper for correct cable and a little know-how on the basics of good crimping is all you need.

PS Crimps for solid drawn cables do exist but they are not the ones the OP is discussing, you would need a totally different crimp tool and crimp and the crimpers aint cheap either.
